Can I Get in the Union?

Ironworkers Local #5 would like to see every Ironworker be a Union Ironworker. If that were the case every hard working Ironworker would receive the benefits they deserve. Every Ironworker (union or non-union) should benefit from a good wage, health coverage, and pension! That is what the union represents!

How does the experienced Ironworker become a member of Ironworkers Local #5? Put together your work history, paystubs, w-2 forms, letters from employers, certifications, anything that verifies your experience. Once this is compiled you should contact Ironworkers Local #5 Organizer, Eddie Hardesty for an interview and application. This is your opportunity to emphasize your skills, so come prepared. Your interview and work history will be analyzed and a determination of your experience level will be set. You will be rated as a Journeymen or a Rated Apprentice.

Many factors go into when a new organized Ironworker will be placed to work. First and foremost, is there work available to send a probationary ironworker to work? Hundreds of Organized Ironworkers have gone to work the last few years. It is impossible to find a job for everyone who has applied, but we will keep every application on file and contact you when work is available. We are in search of good, hard working ironworkers.

This is a short description on how best to join Ironworkers Local #5. If you would like to get more information on becoming a member, call Organizer Eddie Hardesty at 301-599-0960. If you prefer that Eddie contact you please fill out the brief questionnaire below.
